Despite the fact that industry analyst such as Michael Pachter doubtedRed Dead Redemptionwould make much of a splash the game has been almost universally praised by critics (our review is coming, I swear), been the talk of much of the gaming community, and possibly sold like gang busters. How well has it possibly sold? It is looking to take the prize for the biggest UK launch of 2010, beating outFinal Fantasy XIIIand other major releases.
This is according to UK retailer HMV. They informedCVGthat since the game’s launch on Friday the game is expected to sell fantastically, moving an estimated 300,000 units in its two days on the market.“Red Dead Redemptionis comfortably shaping up to be the biggest and fastest-selling title of 2010 so far — ahead of the likes ofFinal Fantasy,Battlefieldand evenHeavy Rain, which we had as a major exclusive,” HMV games commercial manager Jonathan Hayes said.
Pretty impressive for a game that I personally feel didn’t seem to have as much hype behind it as most of the other big releases of the year.
