I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Netflix “Instant Watch” is the best thing that’s happened to my video entertainment consumption since the advent of VHS. It’s awesome. I steam stuff on my Xbox 360 instantly almost daily. I could do it on my PlayStation 3, too, but I’d have to get up and put a disc in the console. I’m lazy, so forget that.

Now, it seems that the PS3 Netflix streaming program has the leg up on the Xbox 360 — it’s quietly added the ability to search the entire “Instant Queue” library from the console. The Xbox 360 version only shows off a selection of releases, while displaying your entire queue… which you must create in a web browser. Remember when I said I was lazy? That still applies.

Coming this November, Netflix for 360 will be updated with the same type of features, which is cause for celebration. It’s also been revealed that the disc requirement for the PS3 will soon be a thing of the past as well. Soon, everyone wins. For now, I’ll have to choose just how lazy I am and make my Netflix viewing choice accordingly.
