NintendoandMicrosoftaren’t the only two platform publishers that can gloat about increased sales during the course of last week. According to a recent statement from Sony released to the press last night, PS3 demand “was at an all time high,” selling around 440,000 units. Neat.

“The 2009 holiday season got off to an amazing start for PlayStation,” said Patrick Seybold, senior director of corporate communications and social media, “with all key retailers showing a significant increase for PS3, PSP, and key holiday titles over Black Friday and the holiday weekend.”

“PlayStation 3 demand was at an all time high with the system selling more than 440,000 units for the week ending 11/29/09.”

Seybold added later, “we [Sony] have no doubt the momentum and demand will continue and consumers will prove that entertainment this holiday season is going to be defined by PlayStation.”

We’re not sure about the last bit, but it seems like the sales are something Sony has a right to be pleased with. We certainly are: more sales means more games and more support, which is a win for everyone — EvenyouXbox 360 zealots out there.
