WhilePortal 2continues toamaze and/or infuriate gamers, the firstPortalhas been able to boast a significant achievement. The original comedy-puzzler has sold nearly four million copies since it released in 2007, and that’snot includingSteam sales.
For a game that was an underdog onThe Orange Box, the success ofPortalhas been terrific to see. Not only is it a genuinely interesting concept, it’s also one of the best written games ever. To see it become a success — one that hopefully carries over toPortal 2— makes me think that there’s hope yet for originality and talent in the game industry.
