After being on shelves for just under 10 months, Sony Online Entertainment’sDC Universe Onlineis going the free-to-play route. IGNis reporting that this October, both PlayStation 3 and PC gamers will be able to download the game for free. SOE hopes to make money on in-game microtransactions, encuraging players to buy with a “Premium” title. The “Premium” title comes to players who have spend at least $5 on items. Benefits include additional character slots, additional inventory, and more....

Def Jam Rapstaris shipping with a diverse lineup of hip-hop tracks — over 40 in all — and this morning, developers 4mm Games, Terminal Reality, and Def Jam Interactive are unveiling a total of nine of them. Joining previously announced songs such asOutkast’s “So Fresh, So Clean”and“Scenario” by A Tribe Called Questare the following tracks: Two more producers of instrumental beats for the game’s Freestyle mode have also been revealed: Danja (with “Nars”) and Nitti (“Hand’s Up”)....
As someone who spent a significant portion of his middle school and high school years playing hack-and-slash games (two in particular – can you guess which ones?), I was pretty excited to get my hands onSacred 2. IGN has the exclusive on Double Fine’s next game, which just so happens to be another PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade title. This one is about those Russian stacking dolls and, well, it certainly looks (and sounds) intriguing. Stacking, as it’s been appropriately named, involves capturing other dolls for their special abilities. It is set in a non-linear, 1930s-esque environment with the standard promise of multiple ways to go about solving puzzles....

All three of my illustrious collegues that have had a chance to experienceTron: Evolution(on theWiiandPS3 and 360) have come away pretty impressed with what is being delivered. But I don’t trust them. Dale has shifty eyes; Holmes loves everything on the Wii; and Husky, well, I have my reasons. Thankfully, we have cameras everywhere at E3 and we caught the game in action on the floor. You can see the gorgeous looking game above in full action on an HD console....
Love him or hate him, the representation of Dante in Ninja Theory’sDmCis here to stay. Attached is the game’s E3 2011 trailer. While the swordplay seemed rather slow to me — especially for a game in such an overwhelming, often batsh*t insane genre — I’m not ready to hate onDmCquite yet. The art, I dig; excellent use of color. I can say with the utmost certainty, however, that creepy slug ladies with gross arms shouldn’t exist....
When I walked into my E3 meeting with Telltale yesterday I wanted nothing more than to talk about their upcoming game based on the revolutionaryKing’s Questseries. When I first heard Telltale wasreviving the classic adventure seriesI hold so near and dear to my heart, I kind of lost my mind. Sadly, Telltale is not talking. The game is not coming out until 2012 and they are keeping everything about the game super secret … for now....
Coming this week to Xbox LIVE Arcade are two relatively unknown games:Elements of Destruction(800 Microsoft Points) andSea Life Safari(800 Microsoft Points). Elements of Destructionhas you controlling a mad scientist who’s bent on destroying cities by harnessing the power of lightning, tornadoes, and earthquakes. The game sounds good in theory, but it’s being developed by the same guys who didScrewjumper!, so I’m not holding my breath. Taking a page fromEndless Ocean,Sea Life Safariis all about photographing fish and other assorted sea creatures....
