One of the few chapters of theCastlevaniasaga not to reach Western shores is also arguably one of the best:Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, originally appearing on the PC Engine CD, which never had a US release, is definitely my personal favorite in the series. The opportunity to finally get my hands on the anticipated PSP remakeCastlevania: Dracula X Chronicleswas definitely one of my favorite experiences at the show, and is shaping up to be a must-own for PSP gamers and fans of the series alike....

Electronic Arts has announced today that it has partnered with Funcom to co-publish the developer’s upcoming massively multiplayer online title,The Secret World. The Secret Worldhas a decidedly different vibe than many MMOs on the market, set in the modern world, with players wielding everything from shotguns to swords. The MMO has reportedly been in production at one stage or at the Oslo, Norway-based Funcom since the early 2000s. No release date on the title — which Funcom has previously stated its planning for Xbox 360 and PC — just yet, but a late-2011 or 2012 release seems likely....

Last we heard, the EB Games Expo happening in Australia’s Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre was starting to fill up with some serious contenders in the way of game publishers. Pretty much every major release for the remainder of 2011 was set to make an appearance in some form. What was unclear was which of these games were playable, but today that has changed. EB Games have announced the final scheduled list of exhibitors and the games they’ll be showing....

VG247 is reporting that the ‘latest’ (May) issue ofEDGEfeaturesMax Payne 3as its cover story. Apparently the game will still be set in São Paulo, but at some point Mr. Payne will have his old hair — as depicted in the recently releasedscreenshots. Maybe they’ll be showing his breakdown and escape to Brazil? Environments are ‘fully’ destructible this time around (as far as that goes), a new cover system will be in place because no third-person shooter can go without one these days, and bullet time will be charged up by killing your foes....

Rumors have been circulating about a potential buyout of casual game publisher PopCap games, famous the world over for addicting legions of office workers toBejeweledandPlants vs. Zombies, changing the face of productivity as we know it. Today, word has come down that the company has accepted a bid of 750 million dollars (with 100 million of that in common stock) from Electronic Arts. Now, EA isn’t stupid (despite what some of us may think) and I’m pretty sure that they know a good thing when they see it well enough not to screw things up by getting their fingers in the pie....

The UK overall sales chart of 2007has been released, and it shows a few interesting notes, a few obvious points and at least one absolute instance of complete and utter fail. Topping the chart was, predictably,FIFA 08, since most British males are beer guzzling, skinheaded racists who follow the boring sport of football like it was some kind of religion. It’s for this reason thatPES 2008is also in the top ten, because one game about football just isn’t enough, damn it!...

CouldFallout 3get the finger flick treatment? It seems that Bethesda is checking out their options for mobile versions of their games, and points to theFalloutworld as one that could work on the iPhone. “I think that the world ofFalloutis unique enough that it could work on any platform. I think some of the things we do like VATS, I think that could translate to any platform, particularly the iPhone,” Bethesda’s Todd Howard toldJoystiq....

Square Enix may be the master of self parody. Only a company completely lacking in shame would officially unveil the next entry in a videogame franchise before the previous entry had even been released — yet Square Enix did exactly that withFinal Fantasy XIV,months ahead ofXIII‘s launch. I understand thatXIVis an MMO, but even so, it’s a ridiculous concept. It’s even more laughable when you remember thatFinal Fantasy XIIIwas supposed to bethreeseparate games, two of which were nowherenearto seeing a release at the time....

BWA HA HA HA HA HA! Okay, we all had some laughs. Time to get serious. Yes, there isactualgameplay footage ofSenran Kagura, only it’s all hiding. Like all things on the Internet, secrets aren’t kept secret for long. Above, you can watch a solid eight minutes of action, which should give you a complete idea of what to expect from this game. I’m surprised by how fast everything moves, especially for 3D brawler....

Sony has announced that a new Media Manager (version 3.0) for the PlayStation Portable has launched today. Available as afree download, Media Manager 3.0 for Windows PCs now includes an interface for the PlayStation Store, as well as the ability to transfer music and photos to the PSP via drag-and-drop. Also included in the software is the ability to rip audio CDs directly to the PSP, making it easier to steal music from your friend who still insists on buying CDs back-up your music....

If you read Japanese already and love everything Tales-related, you may have already tracked down theTales of Symphoniamanga and devoured it, but since there hasn’t been an official English language release most North American fans may not have had the pleasure of reading it yet. According toC3, the manga has just been announced for a French release and will be avaliable for sale starting March 12th. You could be hopeful about this and keep your fingers crossed for an English release, or if you aren’t fussy about actually owning the books, you can go read the whole serieshere....

I think 2024 is going to be pretty sweet: Flying cars, toasters that can also milk cows,Saw 22. Kaos Studios, developer of the upcoming first-person shooter,Frontlines: Fuel of War, have a much bleaker vision. Set against the backdrop of a global energy crisis, a major world war erupts in an attempt to secure the world’s resources. I’d rather have a toaster that can also milk cows, personally. But it does sound like it might make for an interesting title, and Xbox 360 owners should have the chance to find out this December when a demo forFrontlines: Fuel of Warbecomes available....
