It was hot and sexy to see Nintendo announcing new goodies right and left at yesterday’s press event, and the new peripherals announced looked like they could be a lot of fun to use. As I am a fan of shooting games andResident Evil, the Wii Zapper seemed like it would make the game experience totally awesome. I headed over to Barker Hangar a few hours later with the intention of tracking it down to see what the feel was like....
As part of theirDarksiders IIcoverage,Game Informerasked Vigil Games how they feel about the new Nintendo console. Vigil told them that they are still wrapping their head around most of it, but they already have some ideas for using the new controller to do things like inventory management. However, they are not very interested in “any gimmicky stuff like with the Wii launch games.” Vigil also believes that Wii U ports will not necessarily be inferior to other versions of a multiplatform game....
Sexism? In my videogames? I have never heard of anything so preposterous, butthe European Parliament has. According toreports, MEPs are concerned about gender stereotypes in modern media, and naturally videogames have been heavily implicated in the sexist shenanigans. The report shows how a stereotyped, sexist, and often degrading image of women is presented by the new electronic media. The report concludes that the majority of video games constitute one more element in the reproduction of discriminatory stereotypes against women that perpetuate and trivialise abuses against their human rights…...
Bethesda has today announced plans to release three more downloadable chapters forFallout: New Vegas. Honest Hearts,Old World BluesandLonesome Roadare the three upcoming packages set to release this year. The first installment, Honest Hearts, will launch on May 17 and takes players to Utah’s Zion National Park. After your caravan is attacked by tribal raiders, you become embroiled in a conflict with a New Canaanite missionary and the Burned Man. Old World Bluesis coming in June, and turns players into kidnapped laboratory experiments in the Big Empty’s pre-war research facilities....
Bethesda sent an announcement out today to remind PlayStation 3 owners thatFallout: New Vegashad some DLC scheduled for release during the downtime of the PlayStation Store. Now that the PSN has been restored to full functionality, the“Honest Hearts”expansion contentis now available for download there at the price of $9.99. You could take this as a poke in the eye if you want to, a reminder of the pain and suffering you have felt during those dark days....

Sony Computer Entertainment has issued a press release informing us that Stanford University’s Folding@home program has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most powerful distributed computing network … because of the PlayStation 3. More than 670,000 unique PS3 users are said to have registered to the Folding@home network, allowing the network to surpass one petaflop on June 21, 2025....
Think twice before buyingForza Motorsport 3used. Earlier this morning, Microsoft announced that the upcoming racing title will have packaged-in DLC. Dubbed the “Motorsports Legends Car Pack,” the launch day DLC consists of ten additional cars and two downloadable tracks. The vehicles, listed below, have been “hand picked” by developer Turn 10 for maximum vehicular awesomeness. The tracks, though, appear to be merely created for maximumDLC-ness. Forza 3 hits retail on October 27th, while the DLC will make it to Xbox LIVE Marketplace day and date....
Last timewe spent all week focusing on just theFinal Fantasyseries, and it was quite a lot to focus on. If you thought that was daunting though, just wait! Final Fantasydebates are usually a touchy subject, but while the results may be upsetting to some, I have to say that everything went better than I expected from start to finish. The focus stayed on your opinions — or on other opinions you agreed with — instead of the typical disagreements we see so often with this series....
So, remember that sequel toGame Dev Storyin which yourun a videogame store? It would appear that Kairosoft doesn’t think we Western folk would find that a suitable follow-up. Instead, it was made the strange decision to putHot Springs Storyon the US App Store instead. Hot Springs Story(iOS) takes us away from the game industry entirely, as players are set to the task of running a Japanese hot springs inn. You get to build your own inn and then attempt to attract customers....
Inlast week‘s debate we dived into theLunarRPG series, and no matter how you combine or separate the remakes, there was still one distinct winner. For the sake of saving space, I’ve combined originals and remakes in the list below. Here are the results: It’s good to see one game in the series has a strong following, but it’s a little worrying to see a “classic” RPG series not have much support these days....

If you haven’t heard ofKingdom O’ Magic, much less played it, you owe it to yourself to learn about it....
