Kevin Levine and 2K Boston’s upcoming and unannounced game is a shooter. According to aGameSpotreport, the studio responsible forBioShock, led by the man responsible forSystem Shock 2and other dazzling titles, is currently hiring for its next project. Ineach of the listingsthe project is referred to as “an unannounced shooter”, a tantalizingly vague and previously unknown bit of information. It’s also referred to as a “big” project, which leads us to believe 2K Boston isn’t crafting a sequel to Geometry Wars or something along those lines....

I am writing this particular post at 2 a.m. in the morning, and so at this moment my 360 controller, which is sitting right next to me, is looking like it might make an excellent pillow. Taito’s arcade sequel,Music GunGun 2, again mixes music/rhythm gaming with light gun shooting. Take popular music and add a light gun to shoot notes to the beat and you’ve got the right idea. After waiting in an insanely long line at AOU 2011 yesterday, I got a chance to play. I was cocky and told the attendant that I would not be needed the tutorial mode. I picked a hard song on a hard level and got a “D” grade score....

We’re seeing demos being used more and more as incentives and treats in lieu of real bonuses and giveaways, which not only ensures that customers don’t really get anything cool and worthwhile for their money, but seems to completely negate the point of a demo....
