D3Publisher announced earlier that anyone who pre-ordersWhite Knight Chronicles IIat GameStop will get a White Knight equipment set which will include a helm, sword and shield. The extra items are intended to make your character look like the White Knight, just without his armor. Also, the set is DLC, so if your PS3 is not connected to the internet, you won’t be able to use your pre-order prize. The extra gear looks good, certainly something worthy of an epic hero....

Considering I already own the Japanese version of the PSP in red, I don’t really want to skin it — it’s rather lovely all on its own. Seeing these new PSP skins from Gametech makes me think I might have to make an exception, though, because I am a sucker for Japanese art, and the designs are just lovely. They make them for everything from the Xbox 360 to iPhones and the price ranges from ¥1,260 to ¥3,570 (between $14 and $40)....

SoJimmie Johnson’s Anything With an Engineis fun. I know, I was surprised too. It’s basically theMario Kartformula mixed in with the charming style and appeal of theWacky Racerscartoon series. You’ll be using various odd looking vehicles — each with different stats – and all will utilize boosts and weaponry in order to win races. Unlike other kart style racers,Jimmie Johnsonuses a voting system to unlock weaponry. The main way you earn votes is by running over the various special markers located all throughout the track....

Sixty million. That’s how far theGran Turismoseries reaches. Now that we can figure in the numbers for the newest game,Gran Turismo 5, we now know that 60 million units have been shipped for Polyphony Digital’s racer. That counts all the games, including the PSP title. This crazy number was reached in 12 years and 11 months, as it all started back in December of 1997 withGran Turismo, the original. Gran Turismo 5flying off the shelves definitely helped this number....

Hilarity from the offices of Xbox Live, as the users who obtained an illegal copy ofHalo 3have beenbanned forever. Well, scratch that … it’s only until 28-05-2025. That’s right, before the year 10,000, they can finally get back onto Live and jump right in on someHalo 3deathmatch action. While it’s fantastic that Microsoft went so far as to make such a ridiculous ban temporary, provided the rulebreakers are immortal, it gets better....

Here’sthe live-action“Birth of a Spartan” trailer hyping up theHalo: Reachbeta out next week. The short focuses on Carter 259, the future leader of “Nobel Team” and one of the main characters you’ll meet inHalo: Reach. The short is supposed to be about how a Spartan is made, but fictionally, it isn’t as cut and dry as it was shown here. Maybe the extended trailer premiering tomorrow on Xbox LIVE will actually do the fiction some justice....

SouthPeak Games invited me out last week to try out a few of their upcoming games and you just know I had to playX-Bladesfirst.X-Bladesis set to be like the standard hack ‘n slash games but with a few added differences to help separate it from the others run of the mill adventure games....

And so we dive headlong into the season finale of Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’. I’m not quite finished filming the second part of the finale, so I can’t say for sure whether which part of the season’s end I prefer. Still, I’m quite happy with this episode. You can watch ithere. I have two worries. Firstly, that no one will actually bother to watch our older, pre-GT episodes and will thus miss out on many of the references; secondly, that the second part of the finale will be incredibly disappointing when compared to this first part (Grant and Justin are much,muchbetter martial artists than Ash or I)....

We heard earlier thatCatherinebroke all sales records for Atlus USA, but now a new tweet from the company lets us know just how well they did. As you can see, 200,000 copies of Catherine sold in the first week! That’s a lot of sheep, dreams, and block pushing! If you’re at PAX Prime this week, you’ll have the chance to get the first look at developer Frozen Codebase’s next title. It’s calledJam City Rollergirls, it’s a WiiWare title, and it’s exactly what you think it is — a roller derby videogame. The four-player arcade-style title is the first of its kind, bringing arena combat racing to videogames… finally! The game will feature cartooned-up versions of real-world rollergirls, including leagues like Gotham Girls Roller Derby, Rat City Roller Girls, Mad Rollin’ Dolls, Brewcity Bruisers, and the Texas Rollergirls....

Numblast. It’s a downloadable puzzle title with wicked bright colors and tons of rotation — two things that spell “brain hurt” for me. Still, the game appears to be a solid puzzle title. The core goal is to rotate and thus align matching squares in 2 x 2 blocks. Once matched, these numbered-puppies pop while counting upwards from the initial number, creating more and more colorful opportunities. If this is your thing, get excited: an announcement on the official PS blog this afternoon pegged the game’s PSN release date as this Thursday....

I think we can all agree on one thing — all games could benefit from a grappling hook. Think about it: IfPataponor, say,Planet Puzzle Leaguehad a grappling hook optio those would be better games. Right? The development team behindJust Cause 2gets this, and have taken the grappling hook from the first title and mounted it to the arm of the game’s protagonist. Some neat things you can do with it include attaching soldiers to passing jets, or using pieces of a broken statue as a wrecking ball....
