One-touch Shoryuken on 3DS Super Street Fighter IV

I remember being younger and never being able to pull off a Shoryuken. I remember thinking that the in-between down/down-forward was bullsh*t and that Capcom and the entire world was playing a joke on me. When I finally figured it out I had the hardest time being second player and pulling one off from the other direction. D’oh! I always had to be Player 1. When I was finally good at it some years (years!...

People Can Fly trademark new game: Bulletstorm

I had to look at that spelling a couple of times.Bulletstorm. It looks wrong, but when you say it aloud, it seems fine. Whatever. People Can Fly, the studio that Epic snapped up a few years back, is supposed to be working on an action title with the whole EA Publishing thingy. That’s probably going to be a big deal for everyone involved. The thing is that we know nothing about it yet....

Photos: Halo: Reach launch in Times Square

While there wereHalo: Reachlaunches taking place worldwide, few were as big as the massive celebration that took place in New York City’s Times Square. Where else could you find Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, GameTrailer’s Geoff Keighley, and Bungie’s Frank O’Connor? They weren’t there for the Kid Cudi performance. Instead, they were among the hundreds of fans who came out (and lined up, some of them for days) to pick up their copy of Bungie’s latest and greatest....

Playstation store in my PSP?

Apparently in the past many PSP users clamoured for the ability to download content directly from the PSP store to their PSPs instead of using the PS3 as a go-between. Seems like a pain in the ass, especially if you don’t own a PS3 just yet. Now the news is here: Sony has announced the PSP store will be available sometime in the future for direct use on the PSP via a WiFi connection....

Please don’t make me want Ninety-Nine Nights 2

I know exactly what’s going to happen because I’ve played this story out so many times before. I’m going to watch stuff like the above trailer, get intrigued and even a little bit excited to playNinety-Nine Nights 2and then I’ll wind up hating the game. I justknow it. It’s so hard not to be tempted, though. I like pressing one button over and over, but the firstNinety-Nine Nightsdid not click with me and I abandoned it after only a few hours....

Podtoid 55 tonight, with special guests Topher and Ashley Davis

Tiff is sick and Linde is off playing a videogame I’m looking forward to more than the hypothetical birth of my firstborn, so tonight’s Podtoid will feature special guestsTopher CantlerofRFGO!andAshley Davis, ofGiraffestalkerfame. We will be spooging about theBeyond Good and Evil 2trailer, discussing this month’s Musings theme, and trying to remember whether or not we liked the oldOddworldgames. We will, as always, require some intelligent and incisive questions (or failing that, questions that start with the phrase, “what is your favorite”)....

Pretty new NiGHTS trailer makes me feel all warm inside

Yes, you’re going to feel like a massive pansy for playing it, butNiGHTS: Journey of Dreamsjust looks so adorable and candy-cute, doesn’t it? I play traitor to my own cold, hard exterior to admit the innocent charm is starting to sway me, but look at it! After the epic fail ofSonic and the Secret Rings, I’m hoping SEGA takesNiGHTSand makes something as special as the trailers lead me to believe and, more importantly, help to justify the Wii’s consideration as a games console....

Preview: Army of Two: The 40th Day (PSP)

I’ve spent a lot of time looking atArmy of Two: The 40th Day. I say looking, because although I was one of the first people to preview the game earlier this year, and I had the opportunity to check it out again this summer at E3, I still haven’t actually played the damn game. Go figure. So it’s actually ironic that even though I’ve seen more of the “bigger” console title than most people out in the world, the firstArmy of Twogame I played is the PlayStation Portable version....

Preview: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

To say theResident Evilseries has undergone a few changes over the years is a bit of an understatement. When it made its debut on the PS One in 1996,Resident Evilwas more about “jump scares” and exploration than it was about dropping zombies to their knees with well-placed headshots. Flashforward toResident Evil 5, and you’re looking at a game that — in the eyes of many fans, at least — was getting uncomfortably close to a third-person shooter....

Rapala for Kinect is full of fish punching

At first glance,Rapala for Kinectsounds like it would be the same old song and dance. Motion controlled fishing game? Yeah, been there done that. But after watching the trailer, it has come to my attention that you can punch fish in this game. I’m not sure how or why, but it’s there. Good thing the fish can’tpunch you back. Other than that, there’s boat racing because that’s exactly what you do when you go fishing....

Restructuring, layoffs forthcoming at EA, Mythic Studios

Owing to sagging profits and and a less-than-firm grip on their once invulnerable spot at top of the third party heap, Electronic Arts is looking to make some changes in their corporate structure, starting with Mythic and their Redwood Shores studio. An internal email from a trustworthy source who wishes to remain anonymous reveals that John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, has tasked every studio and company within the monolithic publisher with getting their rising costs in line with revenue, which in plain English means layoffs....
