Podtoid 22: The John Sweeney Angry! Edition

I’m sure some of you have already heard of theBeeb’s John Sweeney going absolutely s**t-bonkersin the middle of a Scientology exhibit on psychiatry, and how it’s, y’know, an industry (of death). Photos of dead babies and the like scattered about the place, like you’d see inanymental health practitioner’s office. He hit a breaking point and defended his sanity as best he could in a beautiful explosion of journalistic fury. It wasawesome....

Possible Mass Effect 2 footage leaked, check it out

Looks likeInsomniacNaughty Dog (Uncharted 2) and SCE Studios Santa Monica (God of War III) weren’t the only victims of footage theft at Game Developers Conference 2009. Recently, we caught possibleMass Effect 2footage uploaded on YouTube with the heading “Mass Effect 2 LEAK from GDC Presentation.” The title is surprisingly clear, however, we can’t if the footage came from GDC or if it’s even real. Ultimately, those are your decisions to make....

PS Move sells over a million in North America

Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Move (currently known as “theÂTime Crisis controller”) shifted over a million units since launch, and production has been upped to meet demand. According to Jack Tretton, the company is “absolutely maxed” as retailers sell out across the nation. “We had to go back and increase production twice, we’re absolutely maxed out right now,” says SCEA bigwig Tretton. Despite Sony’s boasting, analysts remain unimpressed, with one stating that units haven’t been selling out in stores, and another saying that the sales for Move have been good, but not amazing....

Put your hands together for Yakuza 3’s minigame

No, really. Clap. And mumble. And that’s about it for the karaoke minigame. I guess it can’t all be sunshine and flowers; there had to be something I didn’t like aboutYakuza 3. I thought it was going to be the recycled combat, though. Now that I’ve seen this video of what I’m going to call theinterruptive karaoke spectator minigame, I can’t help but feel like some of the wind has been taken out of my sails....

Rambo to hit Japanese arcades this month

On September 18th, Japanese arcades will have to make room for this crazy Rambo cabinet, which contains a 62-inch display and two guns. You play as Sly Stallone as Rambo — of course — in this game that brings together the story from the first three movies. You’ll use a machine gun to mow down enemies in scenes taken directly from the movie, like “Sneak into the enemy base,” each complete with accompanying footage and images from the films....

I’m not normally one to be overly interested in acontrollerof all things, but this sexy newred Xbox 360 padhas caught my eye. The peripheral and charge cable will set you back $64.99. We already heard abouta controller with an improved D-Padhitting Europe this year, but it’s not known if the design specs are the same as this one, which doesn’t mention anything about a new D-Pad....

Review: Warriors Orochi 2

When I reviewedWarriors Orochi 2on the Xbox 360, I wasn’t merficul. In fact, it got a 2.0 thanks to the terrible state in which the final retail copy shipped, marred by such horrendous framerate and slowdown issues that it was practically unplayable. That was on the Xbox 360. The PSP version, small though the system’s resources are when compared to the 360, runs absolutely fine. In fact, it runsbetterthan the 360 version did even after a patch....

Rock Band 2 figures of your in-game avatars coming soon

I have to admit I experienced definite jealousy when I saw that you could have yourWorld of Warcraftcharacter made into a figure. I would probably prefer to playE.T.on Atari for three days straight than grind my way through one day ofWoW, but I would have loved to have had a character made from other MMOs I played in the past. Z Corporationare going to take on the task of creating your Rock Band 2 avatars into physical reality....

Rumortoid: Conan developer working on zombie apocalypse game for XBLA, PSN

Screw the haters. I’m of the mind that there can’t beenoughzombie-related videogames on the market. It seems like developer Nihilistic Software and I are on the same page. Our sources tell us that the developer — who released the THQ-published third-person action splatterfest,Conanlast year — is working on an Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network title tentatively called “Zombie Apocalypse.” Details are sketchy, but we’re told the title is an arcade-style game which would also feature online multiplayer support....
