Does wrestling still have as much of an audience as it did years ago? I can only speak for myself, of course, but I haven’t watched Monday Night Raw in nearly five years. However, in high school, I spent countless weekday afternoons playing the PS1 gamesWWF SmackDown!andWWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Rolewith my friends, and we were all really into wrestling back then. I haven’t played a wrestling videogame since the disappointingWWF SmackDown!: Just Bring Iton the PS2, but apparently, THQ has been putting one out every year since then.
As of tomorrow, March 5th, you’ll be able to pick up three of those newer PS2 bestsellers in a package deal. Currentlyavailable on Amazon for pre-orderisWWE SmackDown vs. Raw Superstar Series, which brings together the first three games of the SvR series:WWE SmackDown vs. Raw, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006, andWWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007(boy, that’s a mouthful).
The three-game set will retail for $29.99, which makes it very similar toanother collection of classicsthat will be out in two weeks. However, unlikeMetal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection, the press release (after the jump) for this set mentions no extra content aside from the original games themselves. Still, you can’t complain about three full games for $30, and for wrestling fans looking to get into the video game series, this seems like a great way to do it.
