Last night was the annual NIS America showcase here in San Francisco. Only two games were at the event this year for the press to get their hands on, which was odd at first but quickly became apparent as to why this was NIS’s smallest showing ever.
Souhei Niikawa, the President of Nippon Ichi Software, revealed that the company “will limit the number of titles [they] release in a year. This is so they can “improve the game[s] quality, and also to increase the customer satisfaction.” NIS hadClaudin: This is an RPG, Z.H.B.andAtelier Roronaon display which were “strictly selected and developed with this new policy” in mind.
My intimidate reaction upon hearing this news was a simple “what?” Last I checked, NIS makes some pretty badass games. I know a ton of you out there love theDisgaeaseries and anything with a Prinny involved are instantly adored around here. But hey, if NIS wants to make their games even better than they already are, than I guess that’s okay.
It’s a shame there’s only three NIS titles for 2010 in America, but from we saw of each of these games, it’s obvious that NIS really has the customer satisfaction as their top priority with these upcoming releases.
