Speaking with Japanese newspaperNihon Keizai Shimbun, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata gave a quote — one that discusses game droughts — that’ll surely be fun to look back on a couple of years from now.

“It’s important that you be able to supply software with no pause,” begins Iwata. “With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We’re making plans so that this type of thing won’t happen.”

It’s good to see that they are at least aware of the issue. Although every system has its downtime on occasion, in my mind, Nintendo has struggled the most with it in recent years. Based on the enthusiasm levels many third-party developers are showing for the 3DS, this shouldn’t be too tough a problem.
