Look, I’ve seenBoyz N’ The Hood, OK? And John Singleton’s stark vision of the reality of urban life in south Los Angeles has kept me away from the area for good. Thanks, John.

With that in mind, Rockstar’s upcoming South Central downloadable content forMidnight Club: Los Angelesdoesn’t make it look that bad. The cars are nice. So are the bikes. Hey, maybe it’s not that bad. What do I know? I grew up in an affluent Long Island neighborhood; Hasidic Jews are as hardcore as I get.

Seriously, though, the content looks pretty solid. Good news is that you may get the four new neighborhoods it adds for the nice price of “free.” Or, cough up $9.99 for some extra vehicles, parts, music, and whatever else Rockstar has up its sleeve.

Check out the trailer for a taste. The content hits Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network on March 12. Think it’s worth it?
