But the magazine (at least in name) is far from dead, brought back to life by the publication’s original founder, Steve Harris.
The future ofEGMlooks to heavily incorporate digital content within the magazine (however they would work), including professionally produced video and audio. This content, says Harris, will be made portable on devices like the iPhone.
“The newElectronic Gaming Monthlywill let you take your magazine and its content from print to computer to wireless devices — even your television,”Harris saysof the zombie-fied gaming magazine.
It’s certainly an interesting twist on the traditional magazine model. Of course, if the content isn’t up to snuff, it’s hard to believe anyone will care. We’ll be interested to see if the new magazine will be consistent with the quality and recognizable voice we’ve come to expect fromEGM.
