TheMortal Kombatseries hasn’t had a great history of spin-off games. Whether it beSpecial Forces or Sub-Zero: Mythologies,Midway only was usually able to only successfully spin-off laughable games instead ofgoodones.
But the cooperativeMortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, developed by Midway LA, was pretty damned good. In fact, it was probably my favorite game in the series, one-on-one fighter or otherwise. Series creator Ed Boon agrees.
“Monks was far and away the best spin-off,” hewrote on Twitter.
He goes on to reveal that they were in talks to do a sequel before the Moorpark, California studio — also known as Paradox Development — was closed. Thus the fate of the sequel was sealed… at least for now. WithMortal Kombat 9in development, maybe someone, somewhere realizes that gamers simply can’t fill their appetites for cooperative gaming.
Which twoMortal Kombatcharacters would you have liked to have see in the sequel?
