After last week’s little gameLittle Wheel, I decided to make this week dedicated to the game that heavily influenced it and countless of other online flash games back in the day. IsSamorostolder than the Internets? Yes. Is Samorost still an incredible artistic puzzle adventure flash game all these years later? Yes. It’s been a few years since I’ve played it for the fifteenth or so time, but even playing it yet again right now brings back good memories, and I’ve forgotten some of the puzzles so it’s still interesting.
For those of you who don’t rememberSamorost 1 & 2— or sadly never knew about these games back in the day of dialup — then all you have to do is watch the quick and silly story intro and start clicking. The art style for the level design comes from some very imaginative photo manipulation to make a very static game feel vibrant and alive. From the screenshots below you can tell it has a bit of aWizard of OzandAlice and Wonderlandvibe to it, as well as some odd and creepy stoner elements. Combine that with some inquisitive looping music and you have the perfect thing to help you stay up later tonight, or to help you wake up tomorrow morning.
You can playSamorost 1here, and part ofSamorost 2here. Both games come from the lovelyAmanita Designgroup. Yes, the company that isbringingusMachinarium.
Got any flash game suggestions for next week’s midnight Monday Mind Teasers? Email me and I’ll put it to the test! Enjoy the trip down memory lane.
