In a financial update today, Midway has revealed (among other things) that the PlayStation 3 version of Epic Games’Unreal Tournament 3has been delayed until Q1 2008. The game was originally set to ship this November alongside the PC version of the title, which is still on track for release this year.
Epic’s Vice President, Mark Rein chimed in on theofficial Epic forums, giving PS3 owners some hope.
“As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay,” he wrote. “But our goal is still to get the PS3 version ofUT3in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once its ready and is the best game we can deliver.”
Additionally, Midway revealed (obvious) plans for a next-genMortal Kombat, a newBlitztitle, and two “ambitious open world gamse.” First-person shooterBlacksite: Area 51will also see a delay on the PS3, which will ship a few weeks after the PC/Xbox 360 November 5 ship date. Europe gets the shaft on that one — the title will miss 2007 entirely, and is now scheduled for a Q1 2008 release.
