Legendary Pictures, the production company behind blockbuster films like300andClash of the Titans, has picked up the film rights for theMass Effectfranchise. This would lead one to suspect the long-suspected: Someday, somewhere, there may be aMass Effectfilm. If they can doAsteroids, this ought to be a snap.

Honestly, I don’t care that they’re going to make aMass Effectmovie. Though I recognize and respect the depth and attention to detail in the universe, I’m not so invested in it that the idea of a simplified tale being told on the silver screen is an affront. I’m sure for some, that’s not the case.

What excites me is the idea of another science-fiction film with a budget. I’m endlessly hopeful that they’ll turn out great.
