While the PlayStation Network issputtering back to lifefor Americans and Europeans, it seems Japanese gamers are going to wait a little bit longer before they can show off theirBlade KittenTrophies to everybody. Japan’s government isn’t letting Sony turn the network back on until it’s sure things are safe.
According to reports, Japanese officials still have some outstanding concerns that Sony needs to address before flipping the switch. Apparently, Sony’s counter-hacking security measures are not fully in place yet, and Japan demands to see even further protection for consumers in place.
Sony is currently in talks with the Japanese string-pullers to work this out. It does make me wonder exactly how safe the PlayStation Network currently is, if one country is demanding it stay down, but at least we have no cause to input personal data yet. One would imagine Sony won’t bring back the PS Store until Japan’s rather sensible demands are met.
