Just because the Governator is too busy Governating to be terminating, that doesn’t mean theTerminatorfranchise is dead. Next year, FOX will begin to airTerminator: The Sarah ConnorChronicles, which (not surprisingly) follows the adventures of the series’ heroine. A new film is also in the works,Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which should see a 2009 release.

Now you can add a videogame to that list, as a tie-in to the motion picture has been announced for PC, console, and mobile platforms. The Halcyon Corporation, the mysterious sounding privately funded corporation that now owns the rights to the franchise, has formed a new division to develop the game. Said to be in development for several months, a member of the development team has been working alongside the film production in Budapest.

“We don’t want the game to be the stepchild to the film,” said Halcyon’s Derek Anderson. “They’re of equal importance, and we want both to the of the same quality and be the same compelling experience.”

We’ve haven’t really seen a compellingTerminatorvideogaming experience, so good luck with that one, Derek. They’re going to need more luck, too — starting in 2010, Halcyon are also planning releasing games based on sci-fi author Philip K. Dick’s books.
