Heavy Rainis getting a new, re-edited version for the French market calledHeavy Rain – Version Modifiée. This is now the third version of the title, after the release oflast year’s version with Move support. The game got a PEGI 18 rating mainly due to its erotic content, which will be modified exclusively for France, along with some violent content.
This strikes me as odd because of several reasons: First of all, there are almost no games that have been cut for the French market up until now. Heck, they don’t even have their own rating board for that matter! French versions of videogames only have the PEGI ratings on it. Then the behavior of Sony doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, since they specifically marketedHeavy Rainas a mature title to begin with.
While the edits aren’t specified, the change in the PEGI description of the title hints at some violence and nudity being removed. I don’t see how that would help the title in any way, but I’m sure somebody over at Sony Europe does.
