Despite rumors that have been swirling around since yesterday,Half-Life 2: Episode 3, Valve’s next installment in theHalf-Lifeseries, will not be showing up at E3 this year, as stated by Doug Lombardi in an e-mail toNext-Gen.
Those of you that were already dusting off your crowbars and thick-rimmed glasses in anticipation might be feeling a little disappointed, and I can empathize. Who wouldn’t want to see what befalls Mr. Freeman next? Valve still has a nice surprise in store, however, in the form of a playable build ofLeft 4 Dead. Hey, itlooks likewe were right about that, too.
It’s moments like this that make me really wish I were going to E3 — despite the pandemonium that Aaron and Tiffdescribed it as. Playing a four-person match ofLeft 4 Deadwith the rest of the Destructoid crew in person would be pretty damn awesome. I can only imagine the amount of creative obscenities that would be uttered as we were overrun by zombie hordes, or the amount of “Amazing!”s that Chad would cry out whenever we survive a close call. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to wait until theNovember 4release date like everyone else.
And just a quick FYI:www.e3.netisnotthe official Web site for the E3 Expo; it’s run by UGO. Despite the big banner at the top of the page, a lot of people that sent the original
rumor in seemed to be under that impression, so I thought I’d make that clear as more E3 rumors start popping up.
