It took around fourteen seconds (or twenty minutes Standard Internet Time) to catch a glimpse of a shiny car in the trailer forGran Turismo 5at theE3 2009 Sony Press Conference. We joked about the delay for two reasons: (1) that’s a ridiculously long time for a racing game teaser not to have a car and (2) we’ve been talking aboutGT 5theoretically for far too long. The latter point may be thrown to the wayside shortly: according to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the release date ofGT 5will be revealed soon. We’ll take that marketing push and trickle of car reveals, please. We need some substance.

“We made the announcement today that [the PSPgo title] is coming out Oct. 1 [with Gran Turismo 5 on it]. We will give the release date of the Gran Turismo 5 soon,” Yamauchi toldAutoweek Magazinefrom a hotel during E3 2009.

You’ve heard this story before —GT 5’srelease datehas been eternally forthcoming. But, hey, it would be silly if we didn’t get a release date “soon” at this point: we’ve seen a lot more of the game than we ever have before.
