But let’s not bemoan what many of us have already come to expect, shall we? The good news is thatDisaster: Day of Crisisis still on its way for the Wii from Monolith Soft, makers of the epicXenosagaseries on PS2 and the beautifulBaten Kaitoson the ol’ GCN — not really the sort of game you’d expect from a developer with a history built almost solely on RPGs.
And why should we care? For starters, my little heart jumps at the thought ofanyoriginal content on the Wii, as should yours —Disasterain’t a port, or a sequel, it’s a Wii title built from the ground up. Second, if Monolith has taken any cues from Agetec’s butt-ugly but sorely-underratedDisaster Report, epic world-killing disasters make for great gameplay, and set the stage for some unique applications of the Wiimote. Think action-platformerplus.
