Warner Bros. Interactive has filed trademarks for “Netherrealm Studios,” likely in connection with whatever studio or team is working on the forthcomingMortal Kombatgame.
Netherrealm is among the worlds in theMortal Kombatuniverse, an underworld closely associated with the imagery of Hell. Maybe not the best thing to call your studio. Unless, of course, working in Hell comes with a killer benefits package.
If Netherrealm Studios is re-branding of the former Midway team responsible forMortal Kombat, then it hints that Warner is serious about the franchise. If that means we’ll seeShaolin Monks 2rise from the grave, I haven’t got any problems with this.
