While Facebook has become popular for its social networking features, there’s no denying that its gaming potential is what’s really gotten people excited over the past year. With Google+ seducing the tech-heads and unleashingits own games portallast week, however, some serious competition might be kickstarting. Not that Facebook isworried, of course.

“Developers should go where they think they can make the most money,” said game partnerships director Sean Ryan. “We don’t spend a lot of time worrying about them, we worry about us. We see competition around the world. What I’d say is in classic fashion Google has emulated our system, which is what they’re inclined to do. And we just need to be better as a platform.

“At the end of the day, people will go to what they thing is the right platform. We’re the leader, there’s no question. But we can be better.”

It’s true that Google is an emulator, but it also happens to be a refiner and popularizer. It didn’t invent search engines or email services, but it did more than emulate with those concepts — itimproved. I personally feel G+ is a huge improvement over Facebook, and its games service is already more convenient to use and fun to navigate. Perhaps Facebook dominates in terms of numbers and experience, but G+ is definitely a threat as far as I can see.
