Yesterday’s announcement of an Xbox 360 version ofMinecraft, with Kinect functionality no less, came as a big surprise to many. Notch pitched in onRedditabout the things he could talk about, and noted how it won’t be a straight port and won’t be developed by Mojang’s Notch and Jens — who are still committed to the PC version.
A “new team” will be working on the Xbox 360 version, with programmers who “have done several console games before.” The best thing about it? “You will be able to play it without Kinect BUT WITH THE POWER OF KINECT YOU WILL FEEL CLOSER TO YOUR GAME THAN EVAR BEFORE AND ALSO IT SAVES KITTENS”
I don’t know how we’re supposed to playMinecraftwith Kinect, but the depth sensor would be a great fit with theMinecraftstyle to let you import real life objects into the world.
