Sony’s bringing Ready At Dawn’s PlayStation Portable titles —God of War: Chains of OlympusandGod of War: Ghost of Sparta— to the PlayStation 3 on one Blu-ray disc asGod of War: Origins Collectionthis fall.

Both games are being “re-mastered” by developer Ready at Dawn for high-definition televisions (full 1080p), with support for stereoscopic 3D thrown it for good measure, and the results are stunning in action. The visuals are surprisingly sharp for a game that was originally designed for a PSP, and the 3D effects were subtle but never overwhelming.

I fought through the early Scylla battle inGhost of Sparta, taking full control of both analog sticks on the DualShock controller to move Kratos about. Give some of my biggest issues with the games had to do with the cramped hardware it was originally released for, this was a welcome change.

ForGod of Warfans who don’t have Sony’s handheld, you’re in for a real treat — Ready at Dawn’sGod of Wartitles are some of the best in the series. With full trophy support, and some DLC content forGhost of Sparta(including a skin and a “game directors” roundtable video), this may be the best way to experience them.
