BioWare’s once PC-exclusive RPG,Dragon Age Origins, will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The information stems from an interview with lead designer Brent Knowles, who toldVideoGamerthat the game will “show up on consoles after the PC release at some point.”

The reason for a console release is quite simple. Knowles is aware that games on consoles, particularly the good ones, make money. From the interview:

Battlefield 6 aiming RPG at a helicopter

We think about these things a lot and we know that the console market is an important market as well. And it just makes sense. There’s not a lot of RPGs like this available for console players. There’s a lot of people that the console is their primary gaming platform, they aren’t playing on PC … We’ve kept consoles in mind throughout the development cycle so I think we’re going to have a really strong offering to the console players.

Knowles was unable to pin down a timeframe for console release other than iterating its eventuality after the PC release.Dragon Age Originslooks awesome and is currently slated for early 2009. Hopefully,Fallout 3andFable 2will give me my fix in the meantime.
