It is interesting to readThe New York Times’view on Xbox 360 console failure problem. They say that games likeHalo 3keep repeat customers loyal, and that they keep coming back despite many having to send off their console multiple times for repair.

The NYT articles touches on some of the reasons why so many systems fail, customers’ reactions to the failures, and Microsoft’s new repair policies.

“It’s dissipating a tremendous amount of momentum they built up prior to July,” Mr. Doherty, an analyst with the Envisioneering Group, referring to when Microsoft first publicly discussed its $1.1 billion repair fund. “This is going to get worse before it gets better.”

Is it possible thatHalo 3alone can sell enough consoles to take Microsoft over Nintendo to the top, help make up for the $1.1 billion that will be spent on replacement and repair, and help gamers forget about past console failures?
