Blizzard is still unsure how many people will be involved with the cooperative portion ofDiablo 3.  Blizzard executive vice-president Rob Pardo toldIGNat BlizzCon that he was “worried” that too many players could soil the experience.

From the interview:

We’re a little bit worried that if you go up to too many players that you’re not really going to be playing together anymore. We want to verify it’s a great co-op experience where you really play with the people you’re with, so we’ve just got to experiment and figure out what the optimal number is.

Later on, Pardo confirmed that Blizzard is seeking a limit of eight players, which would probably still makeDiablo 3a mess if one imagines eightnewly-announced wizardscasting environmental spells at once. The demo at BlizzCon only consisted of four people simultaneously, which probably means that eight people is going to be insane. Thankfully, I’ll be able to control all eight characters at oncein the luxury of my own home. Beware my upcoming cyberspace legion of axe-handed dwarves, skeletons. Beware.
