That’s right, the show featuring a questionably moral blood spatter analyst with a jones for brutal violence, loved by many and edited into oblivion to band-aid the gaping wound left by the writer’s guild strike, is being turned into a game. Exciting right? You are excited now yes?! Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and there’s still a chance the game will be good, but it’s being developed by Marc Ecko, the rap-clothier-turned-games-developer responsible forGetting Up: Contents Under Pressurewhich has been called “God’s punishment for an evil world.”
Now now, quiet your cries of outrage, as Marc Fernandez so aptly points out in the press release (viewable after the jump), “DEXTER is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling videogame”, which seems accurate and enough to warrant the benefit of the doubt; I’m sure the fact that he’s Vice President of Ecko’s entertainment division had nothing to do with his statement.
All well deserved snark aside, there’s still a slight chance that unlike Ecko’s previous efforts the game will actually be as good as fans ofDexterwant it to be, but at this point it’s probably best to maintain a pessimistic outlook.
