Is it possible that something can be too cute? In the case of apuppy, the answer is obviously no. But regarding this new trailer forDewy’s Adventure, the conclusion is not so obvious. My eyes actually became gay after watching this footage, and I really don’t know what that means. Will they only fancy other blue eyes now? Do I have to please them by watching moreUgly Betty? My face is so confused. What have you done to meDewy’s Adventure(shaking fist in air)?!Homosexual organs of vision aside, I have to admit, I like what I see. Konami really looks like it has a winner on its hands.First off, the graphics are surprisingly polished and have a really nice style to them that seem to suit the game perfectly. This is a far leap up from Konami’s other Wii original,Elebits, which, while very fun, didn’t win people over in terms of visual presentation (note to all designers: nobody likes slowdown). Extra points go toDewyfor its excellent use of depth of field and soft focus. Seriously, the backgrounds look great and the environment feels very organic. Nice job.Secondly, while I was a little hesitant about the controls when first announced (players control Dewy by tilting the world around him, kind of likeSuper Monkey Ball: Banana Blitzbut with the control held more comfortably sideways as opposed to pointed forward), seeing everything in action makes me completely confident that the game will play smooth and offer tons of creative puzzles. It is nice to see a developer really taking advantage of the Wii controls and designing something from the ground up with Nintendo’s console in mind. All in all, I am very impressed and can’t wait to get my hands on this gem in the making. And, as an added endorsement, my eyes want me to tell you that everything looks “fabulous!” Thanks, eyes. Now, let’s go watch someAmerica’s Next Top Model.
