Crytek has admitted that the PC version ofCrysis 2may have been a misstep thanks to the focus on console development.

“Crysis 1‘s intention was, if I were to play it three years later, it looks great. And it does, actually, it fulfilled that. But it made it difficult for entry-level players,” Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told Gamasutra. “So withCrysis 2, we took a different direction, and it backfired a little bit.”

To make up for what some PC gamers consider the shaft, Crytek will be patchingCrysis 2to support DirectX11 and get all that stuff that justifies their mighty gaming rigs. With this, Crytek is hoping that everybody will be pleased.

“This is much more like a gift to the high-end community,” Yerli added. “And I think gamers will appreciate that. It lifts upCrysis 2and gives a sneak peak of how PC gaming will evolve in the future, if you support a high-end preference.”
