Feel It.”Madden NFL 11Developers Series video above, exuberant commentator Gus Johnson is replacing the staid Tom Hammond as the play-by-play announcer forMaddenthis year. Johnson’s explosive work covering thenow-famous Brandon Stokley touchdown catchat the end of the Week 1 Bengals-Broncos game last season apparently inspired EA Tiburon to sign him forMadden 11, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Johnson will certainly bring a change of pace toMadden— as well as a heck of a lot of emotion — and the combination of him and analyst Cris Collinsworth sounds promising indeed. (If you’re unfamiliar with Johnson, please avail yourself of thisGus Johnson soundboardso you can understand how awesome he will be inMadden 11.) But Johnson isn’t the only facet of Tiburon’s strategy to improve upon the lackluster audio presentation inMadden NFL 10.
This year, you’ll hear team-specific chants and fight songs. If you’re a Jets fan, I’m sure you’ll be happy to see Fireman Ed start up the “J-E-T-S! JETS, JETS, JETS!” chant.Madden 11will also include the licensed music commonly played by sports venues everywhere, such as Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” and the Sport Chant Remix of Zombie Nation’s “Kernkraft 400.” (That last one in particular is going to be great when the fans join in and sing along.)
