This past weekend, when I was off hunting for games to talk about from the 2010 Independent Games FestivalStudent Showcase, I came out with a few solid candidates. One of which wascalledCave, and the others — well, I’m saving those for slow news days.

Levels are split up into different “cards,” which you may shuffle around in order to accomplish your goal: grab the key, and make it to the door. Easy enough. It’s starts getting tricky when you realize these cards have to line up perfectly, and that there’s way too freaking many of them to handle.

Admittedly, it’s a relatively simple concept. But since I had never seen anything like it before, and often times the simplest games end up being the better ones, I thought it was worth sharing. Once you start encountering those complex levels towards the end, you’ll hopefully agree.
