Amid routine surveying, archaeologists have reportedly discovered what they believe to be a heretofore unknown tomb in the region of Egypt best known for its pyramids and ancient burial grounds. Why this has been announced before it’s confirmed that this is indeed an ancient tomb is unclear, but given today’s date there has understandably been much suspicion as to the validity of the claim. When approached for comment, the foreman of the digging crew had this to say:
“It’s just bad timing, really. Today being April 1st, most people are going to assume this is a joke, but I’m standing here looking at it, and I can assure you it’s very real indeed. We’re amazed at how easily we’ve been able to progress toward the tomb’s entrance, this is really exciting stuff.”
Crews report that the tomb has proven surprisingly accessible, and expect that they may even work their way inside of it later today. Many in the gaming media have pointed to today’s date and alleged that this entire operation might be a publicity stunt, staged to coincincide with the announcement of Nibris’s upcoming DS title,Egyptian Dental Fair.
Not a farfetched accusation, and to expose any possible hoaxes, Destructoid has dispatched its Egyptian correspondent Geraldo Beedog. More news on this possible hoax as it develops.
