Despite Microsoft claiming that the Xbox 360 is the only place to playCall of Duty: Black Ops, it would appear that the latest in the premier shooter franchise has been a success on both consoles, with both Microsoft’s Don Mattrick and Sony’s Jack Tretton claiming a slice of theBlack Opspie.
“Call of Duty: Black Opshas been an incredible success on PlayStation 3,” says the Sony boss. “Treyarch’s latest efforts are driving unprecedented traffic to the PlayStation Network with the flagship online experience this holiday season.”
Mattrick made sure to big up Xbox Live while paying verbal tribute toBlack Ops: “With a record-breaking performance on Xbox Live, home to the world’s largestCall of Dutygaming community,Call of Duty: Black Opshas already carved out its legacy as one of the biggest video games in history.”
The game has generated over $650 million since it launched this month, and has smashed Xbox Live records, with 5.9 million hours logged in by 2.6 million unique gamer profiles. It’s already generated over $100 million more thanModern Warfare 2. Pretty big console success, in case you couldn’t guess!
