Last weekwe finished the NES debates with a monster of a matchup betweenPunch-Out!!andBubble Bobble. As soon as the bell rang,NihonTiger90started off swinging with a vote forP.O.!!I Bubbed, Bobbed, and weaved, throwing a counter punch forB.B., and that set the pace for the rest of the fight. Whenever one side got in a punch, the other side almost always countered with one of their own. It’s been a long time since tallying the votes of a debate has been so much fun. The debate definitely went the distance, but towards the end one side began to grow tired and lost some ground that it just couldn’t regain. Here are the results:
This week we move on to the SNES and Sega era of gaming, as we continue to go out of our way to discuss odd game debates that you’d never think to argue over because they’re so hard to compare. For tonight’s competition, we’re visiting a famous film quote, and then slightly changing it to make for a more interesting debate. Here’s the memorable conversation from the movie Billy Madison:
As you can tell from the title of this post and the totally non-edited picture above, we’re instead looking to find out whetherDonkey Kong CountryorMortal Kombat II(for either Sega Genesis or SNES) was the better game. Don’t forget, the point of these odd debates is not to just vote with your gut, it forces us to be more analytical and think like a game designer.
