Uh oh. Avalanche Studios (Just Cause,Just Cause 2) is letting roughly 20 more employees go in the face of the global economic crisis, bringing the macabre tally to a staggering 97 for the studio since October.

“It is a difficult business climate, but this is not nearly on the scale of the redundancies last year,” Avalanche CEO Christofer Sundberg toldGI.biz.

The eventual loss of these 20 employees — they’ve been handed three-month notices — won’t affectJust Cause 2,The Hunter,or a mysterious unannounced third project at the studio. Sundberg mentioned that Just Cause 2 would be at E3 this year, which seems to indicate everything is still on schedule.

As always, it’s terrible to report this kind of stuff. Best of luck, Avalanche crew.
