As our friends atGoNintendoare pointing out, Activision and Red Octane are throwing an E3 bash on Monday night to celebrate the release of their upcoming “Hero” games. Yes, all of them —Guitar Hero 5,DJ Hero, andBand Hero.

Sent out today (we received one, too) promises “surprise musical guests.” Earlier today (before the invite hit our inboxes), a little birdie told me of this party, revealing that the “surprise musical guests” would be Kings of Leon. That band’s popular single, “Sex on Fire,” is confirmed as a playable track in the upcomingGuitar Hero 5. The band playing this party Monday evening is not confirmed, however (“surprise musical guests” could actually be Pink for all we know). My source was reliable in passing along the information about the event hours in advance of the invite, so it seems solid enough.

Whatever the case may be, this party conflicts with our own E3 event,Kar-E3-oke(brought to you by Destructoid,Hammersuit,GoNintendo,IndustryGamers, andGamersGate). While we appreciate Activisions offer (and personally, I kind of dig some of Kings of Leon’s music), we’ll have to kindly decline in favor of rowdy renditions of our favorites songs by friends and other game industry types.

I mean, have you heard Dale North sing “I Believe I Can Fly?” Nowthat’ssex on fire.
