Activision is pulling itsApachefranchise out of the vaults, announcing that a new title,Apache: Air Assault, will ship for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.
Developed by Gaijin Entertainment, the game will focus on helicopter combat, with players controlling Apache attack choppers to prevent terrorist attacks. The game will feature 16 missions, including air and combat ops spanning the globe from Africa to the Middle East, created using high resolution satellite data.
While theApacheseries has traditionally focused on realism and simulation,Air Assaultwill feature various modes to cater to different player types. Just wanna blow crap up? Try the “Arcade Mode.” Wanna twiddle with some knobs and really feel like you’re raining death upon a Central American jungle? “Realistic Mode” is for you. The game will also feature cooperative modes (one player pilots the chopper, the other the co-pilot), as well as online modes (Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike).
Admittedly, my experience with theApacheseries is seeing it in GameStop’s used game bargain bin and wondering why it had so many copies of it lying around. Any of you thinking about picking this one up when it ships this fall?
