We didn’t hear this, but we believe Kotaku on this. Sony says that theGran Turismo 5demo…thingy has been downloaded over 1 million times since its release last month. That’s a lot of people racing the same one car around the same one track. And everyone was good with that?
I would love to see the stats onhow longthat one demo was played. Of course, the people trying to win the prize for having the top time in this time trial are going to retry. And racing game whores like myself will repeat play. But for the masses, for the gamers that don’t “get it,” and for the ones looking for a visual thrill and not necessarily a simulation — well, I’d bet they played it for 2 minutes, spun out, and then shut it off. Nothing against the game, of course. I’m still excited about it. I just know that GT isn’t for everyone, and I would have liked to see a fancier demo come out.
As you may have heard, they’re still behind on the game. Maybe the lackluster demo came from this situation.
