Hey Microsoft, check this out. Sony are releasing not one, buttwogames on their Playstation Network Store tomorrow. The first isLemmings 2. According to Sony, “The processing power of the PLAYSTATION 3 allowsLemmings 2to better previous Lemmings games in all aspects, from detailed environments, to beautiful effects and richer animation.” So essentially, we’re talking Lemmings in 1080p for $5.99. While I don’t think there was ever a public outcry for a version of Lemmings with better lighting effects, the power of the cell processor is unstoppable and must be used to create a new Lemmings title....

The US is always number one…in the games market. I don’t give us long in this economy, but we’re still fine for now. Japan is usually number two in the overall market rankings, but it seems that the UK has overtaken them this time around. The United Kingdom has seen its biggest increase year-over-year, up 26 percent. That’s even better than the United State’s still respectable 15 percent boost. Poor Japan: they actually fell 13 percent, saysRipten....

It appears that, even though he’s now running a Valve team, he’ll still be working on at least two patches forAllstars— the question is if these patches are just him wrapping up already existing work, or if he plans on updatingAllstarsand working for Valve on what will presumably be aDotAstyle game at the same time....

Another pair of battle-loving robots have been introduced for Activision’s upcoming action title,Transformers: The War for Cybertron. Today, the Autobots get Warpath, while Barricade represents his Decepticon brethren. Warpath is tough, violent, and partially deaf because his massive gun goes off directly in his metal ear. Yes, apparently robots can go deaf. He looks very much to be a heavy hitter for the Autobots, and will likely f*ck up your day....

But all that’s over now, according toVariety, as the film franchise game developer shuts its doors. Things haven’t looked too good for the gang in a while. Co-founder Thomas Tull left back in October, citing “quality concerns.” And, let’s face it, if you start a company with the intent of making games based on film licenses and suddenly develop a conscience about them, something is obviously very wrong....

TheTelegraph, Britain’s most passive-aggressive newspaper, is today reporting that a 25-year-old man has died playingWii Fit, proving that “casual games” are a bad idea. Tim Eves, who has been described before the incident as “healthy,” was enjoying a simulated jog when he “slumped” to the floor. Girlfriend Emma Tuck and friend Lewis Hickon called an ambulance, but attempts to revive him failed. He was declared dead on arrival to hospital. Sudden Adult Death Syndrome has been named as a possible cause....

Amazing, really, because you know if those were PlayStation 3s, they’d be in someones trunk right now. Trialsdeveloper RedLynx has divulged just what, exactly, its mysteriousiPhone/iPad gameis all about. The title in question is1000 Heroz, and as the name sort of implies, it’s got a thousand days’ worth of content. Well, more or less. Every 24 hours,1000 Herozis updated with new content in the form of heroes, levels, and relics. Nothing too drastic on a day-to-day basis, but it’s still a neat concept. There will also be daily time-based challenges to go alongside each new level every day....

When 2K Sports announced Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria as the cover athlete forMajor League Baseball 2K10, they offered upsix different cover designsand let you vote on them.
