Disney Interactive Studios released another behind-the-scenes video for Epic Mickey. This one is pretty interesting, as Warren Spector talks about lesser-known characters from the Disney universe that he’s bringing back for the game. That said, there are a couple of really bold suggestions in this. Such as Spector thinking that this game might put Mickey Mouse on par with characters like Mario and Sonic. As mascot characters go, there’s few more popular globally than Mickey but those are huge names to try and take on at this point....

Does anyone tease as mush as Capcom? Seems like they enjoy talking about the games theythought about makingjust as much as the stuff they actually finish. Take this sample from theSecret File promotional ‘zineforTatsunoko Vs Capcomfor instance. It features official-looking artwork of (headless) Phoenix Wright (maybe byShinkiro?) and what appear to be in-game screenshots of the game featuring Ingrid fromCapcom Fighting Jam. Awesome. Actually, I could go either way on Ingrid, but Phoenix Wright is something else....

This isHyperdimension Neptunia, a PS3 exclusive. Aren’t you interested in it? If not, please report to the nearest junkyard vendor, who has been given special instructions to crush your PlayStation into a little black cube of shame. Neptuniais the latest RPG from NIS, and it looks like a total stunner. The balls-mental trailer shows off a none-too-subtle parody of the videogame industry, with a battle between rival Goddesses who each represent a games console....

Okay, we get it —Wii Fitis really, really popular. Exercise nuts, soccer moms, overweight folks, and even gamers have flipped out over Nintendo’s “maybe a game, maybe a fancy scale, maybe an exercise DVD.” So what will Nintendo do for an encore? ReleaseWii Fit Plus, of course! Siliconera uneartheda Japanese trademark for both “Wii Fit Plus” and “WiiFitPlus,” presumably to protect the names in their plans to release new software or a follow-up bundle....

I’m not sure how much time you spend staring at a computer screen every day, but I average 8-10 hours if I don’t have overtime to do. Long story short, eyestrain and headaches kind of go with the territory. I just figured all I could do was take a break from time to time, but a clever little company calledGunnar Optiksthought of a better concept — invent glasses that fix the problem....

Everybody knows that being indie is incredibly cool, and Microsoft has jumped on the bandwagon by rebranding its XNA Community Games channel as Xbox Live Indie Games. That makes the downloadable clocks and fireplaces seemsomuch more credible, right? Microsoft is hoping that the name change will “increase understanding and discoverability” of games. It should certainly make the channel’s aim more clear to the average Xbox 360 user, and is a far more memorable and striking moniker for the channel....

A 7-year-old boy, Connor O’Keefe was recently electrocuted by his Nintendo Gameboy charger while on vacation with his family inThailand. The system had been bought for the boy inThailandas a Christmas present. Hotel management believes the young boy had just come from the pool and while still wet he touched the charger, which caused him to receive a lethal shock from the unit. They believed that even the safety cut wouldn’t have saved him from that type of shock....

AZumasequel is happening. PopCap Games recently blew the lid off ofZuma Revenge, a proper follow-up to the 2003 downloadable successZuma. The title hits PC on September 15th for $19.99, with a Macintosh planned to hit at some point after. Revengewill have the same ball-popping action with a few twists and tweaks. Several fresh game modes are being introduced (including a Challenge mode) and more special powers have been added. Think of it likeZuma PLUS, except with a snappier name … and boss battles....

I’ve been in Tokyo for several other system launches, including the DS Lite, and they were all pretty crazy, just like they are in America. I really expected today’s Nintendo 3DS launch to be nuts here in Japan. People have been hounding store clerks for weeks asking about pre-orders and launch day line-ups. The system’s commercials are in heavy rotation and everyone is always talking about the system. I expected today to be totally bonkers…but it wasn’t at all....
