Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on XBLA this Wednesday

This Wednesday, we’ll all be able to relive the good old days whenSonicgames didn’t utterly suck. WhileSonic the Hedgehog 2has appeared on numerous systems already, theXBLA versionwill be the first port to include both online and offline co-op. Interestingly enough, the Wii’s Virtual Consolejust gotSonic the Hedgehog 3today. Why is this interesting? For starters, this version ofSonic 3has no online multiplayer and is more expensive than XBLA’sSonic 2. While they aren’t the same games, they’re still pretty freaking similar....

Sony to have more games than Mega Man sequels by next March (update)

It is often said thatgood thingscome to those who wait. Up until this point, if you happened to have purchased a PlayStation 3, you are banking on that phrase. Well, allow me to be the bearer of good news — something that I think you’ll agree that Sony could use a lot more of lately. During an interview with the Nikkei Business Daily, Kazuo Hirai (Chairman and Group CEO of Sony) let it be known that Sony is well aware of the criticism that the system has too few games in which to woo gamers with....

Sony: PSN attack was ‘unlikely’ because it was free

According to Sony CEO Howard Stringer, his company never thought it’d be all that likely to see a PSN hack attack — like the one that’sdominated headlinesfor the past month. Sony thought that being free gave the PSN some sort of immunity with hackers, vastly underestimating the tendency for people to be assholes. “Obviously our network security didn’t stop the attack and we’re trying to understand why, and we’ve made big strides in bolstering our security,” he said....

Spider-Man: Edge of Time dated for October in new trailer

In a new Comic-Con trailer forSpider-Man: Edge of Time, the game is shown as having a firm release date. How does July 11, 2025 work for you? “There is no past … without Spider-Man.” Not going to lie, that line cracked me up. Yes, it’s silly in its own right. Can’t argue there. But I was picturingthis classic videowhile that text appeared on my screen.

TGS 08: Hands-on with Muramasa: The Demon Blade

I don’t like the Wii very much. That’s not “being biased,” that’s personal preference, and I’ll straight up admit that I don’t like the majority of its software, the way the controller feels in my hand, or any of its online services. I do, however, like good videogames, which is whyMuramasa: The Demon Bladeis the first Wii game in a long time to make me stand up and take notice. It looked, after all, simply amazing....

TGS: Behold Marvel Vs. Capcom 3’s giant chicken stage

In yesterday’sMarvel Vs. Capcom 3interview, Seth Killian told us about some of the new stages for the game. We showed you footage of theResident Evilstage, but we missed out on Asgard. I went back later to get some footage of the stage, but it was tough. The game was always mobbed with excited fans crowding the shot. This is what I ended up with. The video above is fairly clear, but lacks chicken....

Thank 2K Sports for making Snoop Dogg look truly silly

2K Sports’ Twitter feed recently dropped a couple of amusing little nuggets. They’re photos of rapper, pimp and player Snoop Dogg all rigged up in a motion-capture suit to record his moves forNBA 2K11. I’ve always looked at people in this getup and thought that they’d make anyone look goofy, but this is proof. Not even Snoop can smooth that thing out. But there’s another, deeper brilliance at work here. This photo is a perfect storm, a triple entendre that manages to successfully capture the essence of the Doggfather: Straight baller....

The director and cast of the Scott Pilgrim movie SPEAK!

The day after I posted theScott Pilgrimmovie review,I attended a round-table interview with the film’s director (Edgar Wright) and three of its stars (Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, and Anna Kendrick). They didn’t let me bring a video camera in, so I could only capture audio of the event. Don’t worry though, I still got you covered, at least where visuals are concerned. When it comes to questions, well, I only got one out before I became mortified to the point where I could no longer speak....

The mighty PS2 continues to trim down, after all this time

After getting wind of this piece of news, I don’t know whether to patSonyon the back, or make a spectacle of the whole thing. While the PlayStation 3 is still floundering about just trying to find it’s legs after being all undersold and such, little brother PS2 is going through yet another revision for the better. How so? Well for starters, the new Japanese model (not yet announced for the US) otherwise known as SCPH-79000 went on a crash diet....
