It really is still a geek fest, but since the fall of E3, the show has become more attractive to game companies. While CES is far from being a game trade show, some companies have begun to show their wares there, and last year Microsoft had a pretty solid presence as a game company....

Everybody knows that Shigeru Miyamoto is a lovely little imp. Not only is he always grinning like some sort oflunatic, his games are colorful, gentle and most importantly, not all that violent. In fact, in arecent interview, the legendary game creator stated that violent content in gamesconcerns him. “[I’m] concerned that many developers focus just on excessive violence to stimulate people’s minds.I believe that here are more ways of grabbing players’ attention than violence alone....

It can’t have escaped anybody’s attention that Nintendo’s focus has shifted dramatically since the release of the Wii and its mainstream appeal. Nobody in Nintendo seems to have embraced the changes more than legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto, either. Ina recent interview, the industry icon confirmed that his way of working these days is very different. No doubt addressing his more recent “games” suchWii FitandWii Music, Miyamoto talked about how his creative freedom has allowed him to make “anything” into a videogame:...

Man. Nothing gets us more pumped than leering at still images of hard men with large, sweat-glistened bodies. And to see them crawl on top of each other like animals, pawing and swiping with vigor, oh my!UFC Undisputed 2010is a dream come true. We appreciate THQ’s efforts in bring us the most realistic, and the most stimulating MMA game to date. Not that there’s been many before. But still. We’re not sure who is in the images — we’ve been busy watching re-runs of “Dexter” instead of catching up on UFC....

The name that EA’s marketing department has given to the above video is “Your Mom’s Really Bad atDead Space 2Multiplayer” and it’s not necessarily an inappropriate title. This pair of ladies who participated in the original“Your Mom HatesDead Space 2” adare clearly not gamers and don’t seem to have much of a clue as to what to do when they pick up the controller. And, at the end, we’re reminded how much our mothers hate this vile, awful game (so, clearly, it will appeal to us)....

You may have read aboutBit Boy!!when it wasfirst announced back during E3. I was pretty intrigued, and now this new trailer makes me even more interested than I was before. The gameplay looks to be fairly similar toPac Manwith a little bit ofBombermanthrown in for good measure, but it’s hard to tell for sure. Also nice to see that, in the spirit of capturing the essence of each video game generation, the 32 and 64 bit sections look like polygonal blocky ass....

Shacknewsgot the skinny on someof the new and improved features that will be implemented intoHalo: Reach. Everything that was annoying aboutHalo 3seems to be getting rectified inReach. You’ll be able to see what your friends are doing a lot easier now and joining a friend in a game won’t be a giant pain in the ass anymore. What I’m really looking forward to is the new Arena Playlists. This is for the hardcore players and thanks to everything Bungie is doing inReach, you’ll want to keep improving your profile as opposed to creating a fresh new account because you’re bored, like inHalo 3....

With the release ofinFamous 2just a few weeks away, it seems like Sony Computer Entertainment America is looking to snare a few more sales by sweetening the pre-order pot. They’re adding three new weapons and a skin for Cole to an already complicated bonus offer scheme. Players will receive these items in addition to any other bonus DLC they receive from pre-ordering from a participating retailer or from the “Hero Edition” of the game....
