CES 2010: Why do I let Dale convince me to look stupid?

Seriously, this is becoming a real problem. There are some pictures from this trip where I’m made to look like an idiot that you guys are never going to see. Ever. In fact, I’m going to go and delete them from his camera right now so that they can’t be used as blackmail at a later date. That goat will never be the same. In the hall of oddities that is the North Hall of CES, we came across this ridiculous hat....

Commence frowning: No BattleBlock Theater this year

The Behemoth won’t be be releasingBattleBlock Theateruntil next year? You don’t say! This sad — but not entirely unexpected — news was credited to there being “a little more R&D than we thought and lots of new ground to break.” WhenCastle Crashershits the Japanese PlayStation Network on November 25, the game will be available worldwide on XBLA and PSN. That should free up some resources, and when it comes a company of this size, more resources are greatly appreciated....

Custom delight: Reactor-88’s Dr. Mario and Dig Dug Dunnys

Just in time to prevent my ego from getting too inflated, designer Reactor-88’s customDr. Mario– andDig Dug-themed Dunnys come along to remind me just what a miserable, talentless hack I am. I can draw stick-figures like nobody’s business, but that’s about the extent of my artistic aspirations. If you’re not hip to vinyl toys, here’s the skinny: they’re plastic vinyl models that artists slap their designs on. There are a number of established brands and types (Dunnys being one of the most popular styles) and lots of opportunities for custom creations as well....

Destineer will be showingLittle Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQalong with several another games (see the full list post-jump). Speaking of PAX, if you read Dtoid and plan to attend, we would love to meet you....

Destructoid Review: Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

Goddamnit. Kane and Lynchcould have beensogood. It comes from the guys who brought usHitman, after all, and it seeks to provide the player with a much more character-focused, story-driven experience than 95% of the games available on the market today. Kane and Lynch, as was promised to us, would have been a slam-bang Hollywood blockbuster with interesting, amoral protagonists and an intense crime plot. What went wrong? A lot, unfortunately....

Destructoid Review: Okami (Wii)

Ever since it was released on the PS2 back in 2006, gaming journalists have ranted thatOkamiis the closest one can get to a 3DZeldagame on a non-Nintendo console. Two years later, the comparisons between that huge Nintendo franchise and the “underdog” original Capcom I.P. (awesomely clever pun intended) still haven’t let up, in no small part due to the fact that everyLegend of Zeldagame released since 2006 has “borrowed” fromOkamiin some way....

Destructoid Review: The Last Remnant

For longtime fans of Square (back when they were actually Squaresoft), the fracturing of Square’s major focus on the Final Fantasy series was a frightning thing. Sure, Square had always made other types of games, but when it came to RPGs, it seemed that they poured their energy and time into creating a final product that gamers knew they could rely on. The Last Remnantis the most recent in this stream of titles, following the wholly underwhelmingInfinite Undiscovery— although since Square was only responsible for the distribution of that title, they can’t really shoulder the brunt of the blame....

Doodle Jump dev lays claim to the ‘Doodle’ name

As much as I admire the mobile gaming arena, the relentless copying that goes on is quite annoying, and nowhere is that more infuriating than with the hundreds of games that shove “Doodle” into their names, just to try and capitlize on the success ofDoodle Jump. It would appear thatDoodle Jumpcreator Lima Sky is sick of it too, and has claimed that other “Doodle” games are violating copyright. This was revealed byDoodle Monsterdeveloper Monsters vs....

Dragon Age franchise has a ‘console future’

Recently,MTVMultiplayerhad the opportunity to sit down and talk to BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk about the upcoming RPG from the company,Dragon Age: Origins. Like most console owners without a decent PC gaming rig, I was greatly disappointed that the game appeared to be PC exclusive. According to Zeschuk, there is a ray of light for console gamers in the future of the franchise. PC for now is what we’re focusing on, but there is a console future for the franchise....

Dtoid meetups for the month of February

No Apparent Reason Parties — NARPs for short — are a long standing tradition here at Destructoid. NARPs are parties hosted by Dtoiders for Dtoiders and everyone is welcome to attend a party. It’s about playing games and interacting with other people all in the name of having a good time. February is the shortest month of the year, but that doesn’t mean that the Dtoid community slacks off in terms of event planning....

Dynasty Warriors Gundam trailer: Because even robots need to hack n’ slash

When I first heard the news aboutDynasty Warriors GundamI had no clue what to think. It’s been several months and Istillhave no clue what to think. Be that as it may, Koei and Namco Bandai Games have indeed teamed up to bring us a videogame in which robots from the future fight like Asians from the past. Trust it to Koei to bring a game worth playing to the PlayStation 3, and I’m not even being sarcastic there....
